Day 3: Wicklow Mountains & Waterford

This morning we left Dublin to see the delightful scenery of the Wicklow Mountains on the way to Glendalough.

Here we learned about St. Kevin's 6th century monastery in the Glendalough Visitor Centre  We all walked through the site to see its round tower, church ruins and Celtic crosses. Even though it was a dreary drizzling morning, usual around there, the scenery was beautiful.

We then continued to the town of Waterford, home of the renowned handcut crystal. (Click here for more about the town of Waterford.
In the afternoon, we toured the Waterford Crystal Factory to see skilled craftspeople blowing, cutting and polishing the crystal. We also got to see an amazing range of glassware and trophies in the showrooms.

Before dinner some of us took a brief walking tour around the historic city center with a local guide. The rain stopped and it was enjoyable to walk around the historic part of the town.
